Why is the sky blue and the sunset red? One sun.
- Sunlight has all the colours in it.
- The air sends blue light to every side, about ten times more than red.
- In the evening, the light goes through about 38 times more air, and the blue goes away.
The blue sky is not the sea. It is our air, in the light of the sun.

The opening of the text
One sun, two colours
Look up on a clear day, and the sky is blue. Look at the sun in the evening, and it is yellow, orange or red. It is the same sun and the same light. So where do the two colours come from?
Many people think that the sky is blue because the sea is blue. It is really the other way round. From the beach, the sea looks blue because it reflects the sky.
