Why is the sky blue and the sunset red? One sun.
- Sunlight has all the colors in it.
- The air sends blue light to every side, about ten times more than red.
- In the evening, the light goes a much longer way through the air, and the blue goes away.
The blue sky is not the sea. It is our air, in the light of the sun.

One sun, two colors
Look up on a clear day, and the sky is blue. Look at the sun in the evening, and it is yellow, orange or red. It is the same sun and the same light. So where do the two colors come from?
Many people think that the sky is blue because the sea is blue. It is really the other way around. From the beach, the sea looks blue because it reflects the sky.
